(November 15, 2014) – Heritage High School freshman phenom Weini Kelati ran the sixth fastest time (17:38) in VHSL state meet history at the Great Meadow Cross Country Course in The Plains on Nov. 15. Unfortunately for Kelati, E.C. Glass sophomore Libby Davidson ran the fastest ever 5,000-meter (17:12) at the state meet as Kelati had to settle for a second place finish. Kelati’s finish did help the Pride girls to a third place team finish behind Jefferson Forest High School and E.C. Glass. (November 15, 2014) – The Tuscarora High School girls cross country team took home their first ever crown at the VHSL 5A state cross country meet at the Great Meadow Cross Country Course in The Plains on Nov. 15. Freshman Emma Wolcott – who placed third with a time of 18:25 – and senior Anna Wasko – who placed fifth with a time of 18:57 led the way for the Husky girls. (November 14, 2014) – Loudoun Valley High School junior Andrew Hunter set a new VHSL state cross country meet record (14:41) as he won the VHSL 3A state cross country title at the Great Meadow Cross Country Course in The Plains on Nov. 14. Hunter’s time was six seconds better than Chantilly High School graduate Sean McGorty’s former record time of 14:47 which he ran at the VHSL AAA state meet in 2012. (November 14, 2014) – Loudoun Valley High School senior Ciara Donohue finished runner up at the VHSL 3A state cross country meet at the Great Meadow Cross Country Course in The Plains on Nov. 14. Donohue’s time of 18:06 was just two seconds slower than Blacksburg High School senior Bonnie Angermeier’s state championship time of 18:04.
