Despite scoring on just the sixth play from scrimmage, the Pride couldn’t overcome the dual-threat of Loudoun County senior quarterback Aidan Ballve nor the breakaway speed of sophomore running back Montez Dyson, as the Captains cruised past the Pride, 34-21, on November 3 in Leesburg.
The veteran Phoenix players were not going to let another opportunity at a region championship slip through their fingers, as they shut out Loudoun County—26-24, 25-19, 26-24—on November 2 in Ashburn to claim the program’s first VHSL Region 4C title.
The Vikings scored early then added to that lead twice in the first half to create some cushion and eventually repeat as the VHSL Region 4D champion, 3-1, on November 2 in Purcellville.
Loudoun County High School senior Madison LaRue was named Player of the Year. Loudoun County High School head coach Sarah Mozeyko was named Coach of the Year.
