Loudoun County, Va. — After winter sports were cut short and as spring sports await their ultimate fate, we wanted a way for people to forget about March Sadness, so we decided to create our own March Madness, LoCoSports style! Here’s how it works. We’ve randomly matched up each of the 16 public high schools in Loudoun County. Over the next 10 days, we’re going to create polls (below and on Twitter) where students and fans from the competing schools can vote to move their school into the next round. Loudoun County, Va. — As sports come to a grinding halt across the country, we wanted to reflect on the efforts of the girls basketball teams in Loudoun County this winter. Only five teams entered the LoCo Top 5 in 2019-2020 and nothing changed here in this season’s final edition. With the full support of the community, Loudoun…

Hawes rallied his troops and – despite earning a state playoff berth the night before – encouraged them not to get complacent. The Panthers responded. After another Riverside basket, Potomac Falls went on a 16-3 run to close the first quarter, and the Panthers…

Purcellville, Va. — The offensive game plan was simple: pound the ball into freshman phenom Louis Volker, and let her do her thing. It was a scheme executed to perfection by the Loudoun Valley High School girls basketball team in the second half of the Dulles District championship game on February 21 in Purcellville. It was a game in which both teams battled early and consistent foul trouble. A game in which Volker dominated, dropping 28 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. A game in which the Vikings remained undefeated, claiming the Dulles District tournament title, 63-57, over the Huskies. “Louis…
