When the Captains hosted longtime rival Loudoun Valley on November 29, they put an end to the drought, claiming the VHSL Region 4C title, outlasting the Vikings, 28-14, and earning a trip to their first ever VHSL state tournament.
Just two weeks after defeating rival Woodgrove in a regular season game, the Vikings doubled down, knocking off the Wolverines, 31-21, in a VHSL Region 4C semifinal on November 21 in Purcellville.
Loudoun Valley’s quest for their third straight state title fell short when the Dukes scored with 23 seconds left in regulation to avenge their 2023 and 2024 losses, defeating the Vikings 2-1 to claim the VHSL Class 4 State championship.
The Pride defense held the Spartans to negative rushing yards in the second half, giving the Heritage offense room to complete the comeback, 26-18.
