Ashburn (Jan. 2, 2015)– The Broad Run High School girls varsity basketball team placed second in the 2014 Maroon & Gold Classic basketball tournament over the weekend. After knocking off the Rock Ridge High School Lady Phoenix in the quarterfinal round and the George C. Marshall High School Statesmen in the semifinal round, the Lady Spartans fell to the Oakton High School Cougars, 66-45, in the tournament championship. The young Rock Ridge Lady Phoenix fell in the seventh place game to the George Mason High School Mustangs. Following the tournament, LoCoSports selected its All-Tournament team.

(January 1, 2015) – Briar Woods High School junior Meghan Bradshaw has made an early verbal commitment to continue her softball career at the University of Virginia beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year.
(December 30, 2014) – The Virginia High School League has selected its VHSL 3A all-state team for football. James Monroe High School senior Jay Scroggins was named Player of the Year. Magna Vista High School head coach Joe Favero was named Coach of the Year.

By Joe Skinner LoCoSports Journalist South Riding (Dec. 20, 2014) – Rival high schools Freedom and John Champe took to the hardwood for the second time in seven days to finish up their season match ups. The Knights entered the games holding a two game advantage after sweeping the Eagles on Dec. 12 in Aldie in a pair of close games. However in round two, the Lady Eagles were able to trump the Lady Knights, 51-46. On the boys side, the Knights completed their season sweep of the Eagles with a come from behind, 77-64, win.
