As seen in the LoCoMagazine! (January 17, 2015) – LoCoSports has named its 2014-2015 All-LoCo volleyball team. The 2014-2015 volleyball Player of the Year is Taylor Borup from Loudoun County High School. The Coach of the Year is Marsha Hermes of Briar Woods High School.

[twitter-follow screen_name=’BigO_Gotimer’] By Owen Gotimer  LoCoSports Editor (January 17, 2015) – In Loudoun County, the fall sports season actually started on July 7, 2014 when Tuscarora High School head football coach Michael Burnett received a phone call that changed his life forever. Burnett’s best friend and assistant coach Adam Fortune had passed away at the age of 37. During the 2014 season, the Huskies football team dedicated their season and their field to their late coach under the motto “Fortune Strong” and made him proud with a 14-1 overall record.

(January 15, 2015) – In an effort to better recognize student-athletes in Loudoun County who exemplify the values classmates, coaches, spectators, officials, families and friends look for in teammates, the LoCoSports team has selected its December 2014 Teammates of the Month for boys and girls basketball, football, gymnastics, swim and wrestling. The selections were made based on the following criteria: selflessness, hustle, work ethic, attitude, team-first mentality, spirit and heart.

By Emma Myers LoCoSports Journalist Ashburn (Jan. 5, 2015) – One Saturday night, Briar Woods High School football head coach Charlie Pierce found himself seated in a booth at the All American Steak House in Ashburn surrounded by a mass of TVs playing college football games from around the country.  “On one TV, Stanford was playing, another TV had Wake Forest, another screen had Minnesota playing, and on the other TV Penn State was playing,” Pierce said.

(January 3, 2015) – The Virginia High School League has selected its VHSL 4A all-state team for football. Lake Taylor High School senior Shiheem Johnson was named Player of the Year. Lake Taylor High School head coach Hank Sawyer was named Coach of the Year.
