Photo Shoot FAQ
If you have any questions beyond what you read below, DO NOT call Cheers Sports.
Cheers is a wonderful sponsor, and we don’t want them to have to field a bunch of questions about the photo shoot or selection, especially questions that are already answered below like “What should athletes/coaches wear to the All-LoCo photo shoot?” . Photo shoot questions should be directed to LoCoSports.

Selection Process FAQ
How are All-LoCo selections made?
The LoCoSports team works diligently to make the All-LoCo selections. The selection process varies team to team, but for the most part, it involves us looking at statistics and game results, our staff’s first-hand accounts, and, if necessary, coaches’ testimonies.
What’s the philosophy behind All-LoCo selections?
When we sit down to select the All-LoCo teams, we think about it as an all-star team. If we were going to go play the Fairfax County all-star team, who from Loudoun County should we bring with us. We try to round out teams based on positions (e.g., we’re not bringing 6 point guards with us for basketball). We also don’t consider school or year when we make selections. Our goal is to pick the best athletes at their positions in Loudoun County regardless of age or team.
Why didn’t my student-athlete make the team?
Unfortunately, we don’t discuss selections on an individual athlete basis. We appreciate all the hard work every student-athlete puts in, and sometimes deciding between two or more athletes can be challenging, so we fully recognize that certain people will disagree with our selections.
My kid was the best player on his team. How come he didn’t make the All-LoCo team?
We’re selecting student-athletes from all across Loudoun County’s 17 public high schools. Some of our teams only have 6-7 kids named first team All-LoCo, so there are situations where 11 or more team MVPs are left off our lists entirely. Our goal is not to award participation trophies but rather to name the best of the best student-athletes across all 17 of Loudoun’s public high schools.
My kid was all-district, all-region, or all-state, how come they’re not All-LoCo?
Being named all-district, all-region, or all-state doesn’t guarantee you a spot on the All-LoCo team; also, being left off an all-district, all-region, or all-state team doesn’t exclude you from making the All-LoCo team. The schools in Loudoun County represent 4 districts, 3 regions, and 3 state classifications—and those all-league lists often include more athletes than actually comprise a starting line up (for example, the all-district football teams name 14+ offensive starters when only 11 players start on offense). Most of the time, there are way more first-team all-district and all-region (and even on occasion more all-state) athletes from Loudoun County than the number of spots we have available on our teams as we try to name just a sport-specific starting lineup for our first team.
But wait, I read all the FAQs and I still don’t see my kid’s name on the All-LoCo team…
Then your kid didn’t make the All-LoCo team. If you message or email us to find out why, we are going to direct you right back to these Selection Process FAQs.
