Loudoun County, Va. – In an effort to better recognize student-athletes who positively affect high school sports in Loudoun County, Power Train and LoCoSports have teamed up to announce Briar Woods High School sophomore Katie Winklosky as the Power Train and LoCoSports Teammate of the Month for December 2017.
Through December, Winklosky held four top-ten spots in the LoCo Top Times: seventh in the 200-yard IM (2:16.58), eighth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.15) and ninth in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.60) and 100-yard backstroke (1:05.20).
“Katie quickly established her presence on the team as a freshman and has continued to grow as a key piece in the success of the Briar Woods swim team her sophomore year,” Briar Woods head coach Eric Bateman said. “I am excited to see what she continues to bring to the team the next several years.”
[adrotate banner=”6″]On top of her individual success, Winklosky is part of the standout Lady Falcons swim team that currently holds the fastest time in the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay and the second fastest time in the 400-yard freestyle relay in Loudoun County this winter.
“Katie is a driven swimmer. She is dedicated at not only improving herself, but also those around her,” Bateman said. “Katie is constantly encouraging her teammates, cheering them on at practice and meets, and and setting an excellent example through her work ethic and ultra positive demeanor.”
The Power Train and LoCoSports Teammate of the Month is selected from nominations based on student-athletes having a great team-first mentality, hustle, work ethic, attitude and heart.
All athletes and teammates of the month are invited to Power Train for a free month of training.
