Loudoun County, Va. – In an effort to better recognize student-athletes who positively affect high school sports in Loudoun County, Gymnaze and LoCoSports have teamed up to announce Riverside High School junior Kaylan Hoehn as the Gymnaze and LoCoSports Athlete of the Month for March 2022.
Through nine games this spring, Hoehn leads the Rams with 12 RBIs and is hitting .423, leading Riverside to an 8-1 start to their 2022 campaign.
“Kaylan is a stellar teammate with a big, infectious smile. She is a leader with her actions, always pumping others up, grabbing a rake, or doing everything to maintain and grow the program’s culture,” Riverside head coach Kevin Bednoski said. “Our team motto is Leave No Doubt, or LND. Kaylan has embraced that wholeheartedly this season and works with her teammates to keep the mood light and fun and direct and focused.”
Hoehn’s focus was as present as ever in the Rams’ March 24 game against Brentsville. After fouling a ball hard off her foot, Hoehn fell to the ground before a trainer came out, chatted with her, and allowed her time to walk it off and recompose herself. Two pitches later, Hoehn crushed a homer. Then in her next at bat, Hoehn hit another home run.
“Then, in the next game versus John Champe, Kaylan hit her foot again—we were begging her to get a shield,” Bednoski said. “[She finished that at bat with] a rocket double, then hit a bomb in her next at bat.”
