Loudoun County, Va. – In an effort to better recognize student-athletes who positively affect high school sports in Loudoun County, Gymnaze and LoCoSports have teamed up to announce Stone Bridge High School senior Jacob Thomas as the Gymnaze and LoCoSports Athlete of the Month for December 2021.
On December 11, Thomas led the Bulldogs to the VHSL Class 5 Football State championship, throwing for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns, including a 38-yard, game-winning touchdown pass on the final play of regulation.
“The game moves really slowly for Jacob,” Stone Bridge head football coach Mickey Thompson said. “He is a phenomenal athlete and a great quarterback. It’s like he’s playing Madden out there.”
A week after his state-championship-winning pass, Thomas traded in his football cleats for basketball shoes, where he scored 8 points, hauled in 10 rebounds, dished out 6 assists, stole 4 passes, and blocked 2 shots in the basketball Bulldogs’, 71-56, win over Cedar Run District frontrunner John Champe.
“He’s always asking ‘coach, what do you need me to do?'” Stone Bridge head basketball coach Kent Kling said. “He’s close to a triple-double every night. He’s just a super athlete.”
