Loudoun County, Va. – In an effort to better recognize student-athletes who positively affect high school sports in Loudoun County, Gymnaze and LoCoSports have teamed up to announce Broad Run High School senior Brigitte Racey as the Gymnaze and LoCoSports Athlete of the Month for September 2021.
During the month of October, Racey allowed less than two goals per game, including three one-goal losses to Dominion, Heritage, and Loudoun County. The Spartans fell to both the Pride and the Captains, 1-0, teams that are averaging almost 3 goals per game and more than 4 goals per game, respectively, this season.
“Brigitte is amazing,” Broad Run head coach Meg Dudek said. “She’s a great athlete, she’s a lot of fun to be around, she’s always smiling—even when she’s crying—and she brings it every time she’s on the field, whether it’s practice or a game.”
While the Spartans posted just a 3-4 record in October, Racey’s hustle, leadership, and infectious energy have kept them in nearly every game they’ve played in all season.
“Brigitte is a great role model and inspiration for our back up goalies as well as field players,” Dudek said. “She’s a smart kid and an incredibly hard worker.”
