South Riding, Va. — Freedom High School sophomore Riley Waldrop and freshmen Liliana Gines and Kelly Fangyen led the Eagles to a win in a five-team meet over Broad Run, Heritage, John Champe and Rock Ridge to open their season on December 5 in South Riding.
Waldrop turned in the top all-around score with a 37.550 while winning the vault (9.550) and floor exercise (9.550). Gines placed second in the all-around (37.275) and won the beam (9.600) and bars (9.525). Fangyen turned in a top-4 finish in each event, placing third in the all-around (37.150).
