Ashburn, Va. — Led by senior Sydney Wrighte’s all-around performance, the Freedom High School gymnastics team claimed the VHSL 5A State championship on February 16 in Leesburg. Wrighte followed up the team championship with an individual runner-up performance in the all-around on February 17.
After finishing runners-up in 2017, the Lady Eagles were led in the team competition by Wrighte, sophomore Bre Roeder and freshman Riley Waldrop.
Woodgrove High School junior River Stone turned in the next best all-around performance from Loudoun, placing eighth.
Sophomore Jenna Haran – who finished twelfth in the individual all-around – paced the Lady Vikings in the team competition as Loudoun Valley turned in a fourth place finish.
