Arlington, Va. — The APEX Level 8 & 9 teams both won their respective team division at the Aerials Invitational held in Arlington on January 13 & 14, 2018.
The Level 8 team swept the all-around podium with Maria Alexandrou and Ellie Wooten both topping 37 in the all-around. Makaila Knoerzer won the bronze to finish the APEX all-around sweep.
APEX athletes also finished with gold medals on vault – Marlena Costanzo (9.575); bars – Maria Alexandrou (9.300) and Emma Nuwer (8.975); beam – Ellie Wooten (9.675) and Maria Alexandrou (9.300); and floor – Maria Alexandrou (9.375).
The Level 9 team was led by Lauren Greene, who won the all-around with a 36.875. APEX gymnasts completed the sweep of the all-around with Caroline Cascadden – who finished 2nd – and Allie Auten – who finished 3rd. Hannah O’Dea won the vault (9.725), Lauren Greene won bars ( 9.475) and beam (9.300) and Caroline Cascadden won floor (9.200).
APEX gymnasts Abbie Knox, Carrie Wiggins, Dilara Michlena, Ruby Wrisley, Ashley Bannerton and Allie Auten all qualified to states at this competition.
