Loudoun County, Va. — As high school basketball gets underway in Loudoun County, a few local teams have already started to stand out among the crowd. In a two-district county, we wanted a way to put things into perspective. Enter: the LoCo Top 5.
Of course, if you’re into hard numbers the full Potomac District and Dulles District standings are available here.

Loudoun Valley came into the season as reigning VHSL 4A State champions, and have shown no signs of slowing down, despite losing some key pieces. The Vikings picked up a quality non-conference win against 6A powerhouse Battlefield High School last week.
2. Freedom (2-0, 6-2)
The Eagles kicked off the season with a convincing 31-point win against Seton Catholic, but fell to a talented Battlefield team 65-51 in the championship of the Evolution Tip-Off Tournament. After scoring solid wins against Millbrook and Rock Ridge, the Eagles fell to Bishop Shanahan (PA) at the KSA Holiday tournament in Orlando, Florida.
3. Stone Bridge (1-0, 1-2)
The Stone Bridge Bulldogs have gotten off to a bit of a rocky start in their first three games, partially due to tough tests against Patriot and Forest Park. Look for guards Evan Buckley and Ben Kling to right the ship for the Bulldogs.
4. John Champe (2-0, 4-1)
John Champe lost their star guard Dom Fragala to graduation, but sophomore forward Tyler Savage has done a formidable job of stepping in as the star player for the Knights. With their excellent win against Potomac Falls on Monday night, the Knights have shown that they can challenge Freedom and Loudoun Valley for the top spots in the county.
5. Potomac Falls (0-1, 6-2)
Potomac Falls always fields a competitive basketball team, and this year is no different. The Panthers have cruised through games against non-conference opponents, but have fallen to both Loudoun Valley and John Champe.
