Purcellville, Va. – Loudoun County High School freshman Matthew Monastero (74) won a playoff against Woodgrove High School junior Alex Price to claim the 2017 VHSL Region 4C golf championship on September 28 in Purcellville.
Monastero – along with his brother Ryan, Dominion senior Kelvin Shen and Loudoun Valley senior Ryan Hammer – will represent Loudoun at the VHSL 4A state championship tournament on October 9-10 in Abingdon.

“I think today will help us not only to prove to our kids that we can play in tougher conditions, but also to not give up even though they are having a round that is not up to their standards,” Woodgrove head coach Jason Lutman said. “I think we will be prepared for the state tournament due to the level of competition that we face day in and day out within our district.”
