Ashburn (Jan. 2, 2015)– The Broad Run High School girls varsity basketball team placed second in the 2014 Maroon & Gold Classic basketball tournament over the weekend.
After knocking off the Rock Ridge High School Lady Phoenix in the quarterfinal round and the George C. Marshall High School Statesmen in the semifinal round, the Lady Spartans fell to the Oakton High School Cougars, 66-45, in the tournament championship.
The young Rock Ridge Lady Phoenix fell in the seventh place game to the George Mason High School Mustangs.
Following the tournament, LoCoSports selected its All-Tournament team.
Broad Run junior forward Mariah Leonard was named the LoCoSports most valuable player, while Rock Ridge freshman guard Taryn Hollis earned the LoCoSports Head, Heart & Hustle award.
