South Riding, Va. — Backed by five individual championship swims, the Briar Woods High School girls swim team claimed the Potomac District championship on January 26 in South Riding. The Rock Ridge High School boys team turned in eleven top-3 finishes and swept the boys relays to win the boys team title. On the girls side, Briar Woods senior Jordan Wenner won the 50-yard freestyle, sophomore Mackenzie McConagha won the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley and junior Abby Harter won the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle as the Falcons swam past the field by more than 230 points. Leesburg, Va. — Led by sophomore Joe Jovene and seniors Ivan Adams, AJ Bartling and Drew Oliver, the Woodgrove High School wrestling team claimed the Dulles District championship in Leesburg on February 2. Purcellville, Va. — Riverside High School freshman Marisa Cisneros won three of the four individual events en route to the all-around title at the Dulles District Championships at Loudoun Valley High School on January 31. Cisneros scored a 9.700 on vault, a 9.325 on bars and a 9.825 on the beam to edge out Woodgrove senior River Stone in the all-around, 38.075-37.500. Sterling, Va. — Backed by eight individual championship swims, the Riverside High School boys and girls swim teams claimed the Dulles District championships on January 26 in Sterling. On the boys side, Riverside senior Jackson McCummings won the 50-yard freestyle, sophomore Christopher Kopac won the 500-yard freestyle and sophomore Robert Quan won both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events as the Rams swam past Dominion, 467-344. Alexandria, Va. — Tuscarora High School freshman Eryn Hubble and Loudoun County High School sophomore Leila Tevlin topped the podiums at the third annual VHSL Girls State Wrestling Championships on January 26 at Hayfield.
